Aromatherapy: the use of essential oils from botanical plant sources, for therapeutic purposes is an excellent way to take care of our loved ones. Nowadays, essential oils are popular and very easy to buy. However, safety is vital when manipulating these products. If used with caution and care, they can be very useful and you may even find them essential. With aromatherapy, we can work on many types of problems like eczema, cellulite, bruises, acne, common colds children’s health, insomnia, panic attacks and stress with adults and teens. Furthermore, essential oils offer the pleasure of true fragrance, all living molecules with nothing synthetic added. An essential oil is a highly volatile substance, extracted from plants through different techniques (distillation, expression or absolute). The most common way to extract this liquid is distillation, by steam or water, from different parts of the plants (leaves, flowers, bark, roots, fruits and seeds). Aromatherapy is a powerful and marvelous way to assist someone who is sick and alleviate the pain. Essential oils help the body to regain health, find balance, osmosis, and accompany the healing process. From an esthetic approach, it is much more concentrated and powerful than any luxurious cosmetic cream, however it must be used with caution. Each individual essential oil has its own chemical components and these determine the character and individual therapeutic properties. This allows the therapist to choose a specific blend for the patient. It can be calming and relaxing, or more stimulating, detoxifying, invigorating or stimulating for the immune system. The aromatherapist can enhance the benefit of essential oils with a body massage. Each oils is chosen with care and blended with a carrier oil (grape seed, jojoba, macadamia oil…). Usually there is no more than 8 drops for 20 ml of carrier oil. The massage will not only help the patient to relax, but it will help the body to eliminate toxins, rebalance the nervous system and bring peace of mind. Essential oils will pass into the bloodstream through the skin, and be effective in the body in less than 30 minutes. This is such a good way to heal without synthetic pills to swallow. There are other ways to use essential oils including: inhalation, bathing, lotions, creams, compress and local massage. If you are still hesitant, the aromatherapist will advise you of the right dosage, according to the age and the condition of the patient. Be aware of what you buy when you choose your oil. Always check that the botanical name, the latin name, extracted part of plant, country of origin, and if possible chemotype (ex: ct linalool) are all written. Incorporating aromatherapy in your daily routine can promote a better sense of wellbeing and lead to a better life. Respiratory influenza (flu) is a viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. The viruses responsible for the flu are known as Influenza A and Influenza B • Influenza A and B are aggressive viruses that attack the respiratory system. Influenza A is usually more aggressive and arrives between early winter and early spring. Influenza B can appear at any time of the year. • A cold is also a viral infection from one of over a hundred viruses that are less aggressive than influenza A and B but can also attack the respiratory system. • Avian (Bird, H5N1, H7N9), H1N1 (Swine) and H3N2 are subtypes of influenza A and B. • The stomach flu is also a viral infection but it attacks the stomach and intestines. These viruses are of different strains than cold or influenza A and B viruses. The virus may come from contaminated food or water or can be spread from person to person. Beyond stomach discomforts symptoms may include chills, sweats, muscle and joint aches, and fever. • Flu and colds are viral not bacterial. Antibiotics will not help. Flu symptoms: One to four days after the virus enters the body, symptoms will begin. Typically a high fever from 39 to 41 °C (higher temperatures usually for children) is the first symptom. This will be followed by overall aches, headaches, chills, dizziness, and lack of energy. Some will experience nausea and vomiting. This can last 2 or 3 days and then symptoms may move to cold like symptoms of a runny nose, coughing, sneezing, and sore throat. For those severely weakened, pneumonia is a danger. For others the tiredness and lack of energy can last for weeks. Flu and cold differences Symptoms for a cold and the flu may be similar. A cold is much more common and less dangerous. Some differences and similarities are: • The flu hits harder and faster. Symptoms develop rapidly and are very strong. • For adults a fever usually means the flu. • If it lasts for weeks it was the flu. • Headaches, coughs, earaches happen with both. • Early sore throat or runny nose it is probably a cold. The flu is a highly contagious disease that can be transmitted by coughs, sneezing or other contact with someone that is contagious. This can occur from one day before someone shows symptoms to three to seven days after. This is further complicated since some can have the virus but not show any symptoms. 10 basics of prevention and guidelines if the flu is knocking on your door. 1. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough sneeze or wipe your nose. Tissues should be discarded immediately in a wastebasket. 2. Run your diffuser often in your home. Which oils? Lemon, eucalyptus, lavender, thyme or pine. Antiseptic, anti viral and anti-microbial oils are the best. 3. Protective Blend, to boost your immune systems, and guard against pathogens. You could rub your own children's feet with this type of blend every night before bed time and every morning before they put their shoes on for the day. Bergamot and Rosemary ct cineole for instance is a good choice. 4. Stop dairy products (except kefir and plain yogurt). Cut sugar and wheat. You could drink for instance Yuzu tea (marmelade with yuzu), mix with honey and ginseng. This beverage, comes from Korea and is very healthy and tasty. 5. Don’t take medicine that stops a runny nose. Blow it as often as possible. Let it run and allow the mucus to take your toxins away. 6. Take vitamin C and drink plenty of lemon juice. Make your own smoothie with veggies and fruit to detox your liver (ex carrot). Take Eldeberry extract syrup. 7. If you have a fever, avoid hot drink. Make a cold-compress with water and eucalyptus or lemon. 8. Only take panadol if your fever is very high. Fever is showing that your body is fighting and that your immune system is on alarm stage. Let it work. 9. Be aware and recognize symptoms. If you start to be sick, immediately begin an essential oil protocol and see a professional if you experience symptoms. Have a blend ready to fight flu. Ravensare aromatica, hemlock and eucalyptus are good choice. A second blend to have in hand is for the pain. Flu can be painful and you will need a stimulating, detoxifying and analgesic blend. Birch, peppermint, rosemary ct verbenone are a good choice. If the symptoms get worse and if your prevention protocol doesn’t work, then go and see the doctor. But if you can avoid a place full of sick people where you could catch something else, stay safe at home and try first to let it go. 10. Make your home a happy place, free from stress. And REST. Most of disease aggravation could be avoided if you rest. Even if the fever is gone, it dosen’t mean you are ready to go, and ready to let your child go to school. He could still be contagious to others. Spruce is a good choice for recovering. These are all things we can do that will create a synergy of protection for your home and family. All the essential oils I mentioned are to be prepared in synergy. Case by case. Contact me if you need advice and more practical informations. Whatsapp: +44 75 08 301377 A flu fighter blend is something to have at home before it happens. Essential oils are a marvellous way to avoid disease if you use them with care and caution. There are doses to respect, and a child will not have the same amount as an adult. Essential oils are not used to “treat” medical problems, but to alleviate symptoms and prevent them. A person with an imbalance will tend to be sick. Work on your body first, your immune system and your emotions. Then you shouldn’t be scared of epidemic. |
