Allergies, which affect you during the spring and summer months, are commonly referred to as seasonal. The seasonal rhinitis is most often due to allergy to grass and/or tree pollens. These pollens are airborne and are present throughout the spring/summer months. In UK, tree pollens are in the environment as early as January and grass pollen is present from May. The pollens from trees, grass or weeds can cause the immune system to produce antibodies and release a natural substance called histamine that is present in all cells throughout the body. Unfortunately, histamine irritates all the upper respiratory passages such as the nose, sinus, throat and eyes (conjunctivitis), making them swell and produce most of the typical hay fever symptoms. Among different essential oils, tarragon (artemisia dracunculus) is a very interesting one for treating allergy. This oil helps the body to react more smoothly during the allergy. It helps the immunity to slowdown. Emotionally, it calms and relaxes the nerves. On the other hand, it sustains the liver during the allergy. Tarragon has some similar properties to anti-histamine medicine, with no side effect. It could be an option to use it in prevention internally in sublingual. You would then need to seek for a professional aromatherapist. Or if you prefer, you can use it diluted with a base oil (black cumin oil would be the best), applied on the wrists regularly. In addition, you can add some very calming oils (from chamomile family). The blue chamomile which contains chamazulene has anti-inflammatory property (also interesting after insect bites). Roman chamomile has a more proactive effect on calming the nerves. You can also use hydrosol, (floral water), extremely interesting with children and babies, as well as for cleansing the nose and washing the face. Essential oils can help with your allergy, and they are extremely effective in addition with Chinese medicine and a holistic approach including nutrition aspect. Eyes soothing blend recipe: We are talking about Hydrosol and not essential oil in this recipe – Choose 3 hydrosols between: Rose Water, Chamomile water, Lavender water, Geranium water and Cornflower water. – 25 ml of coconut oil (reheat if solid) – 15 ml of Aloe Vera gel (optional) – Cotton Prepare a blend of the 3 hydrosols (300 ml altogether) with the coconut oil and Aloe Vera gel. Soak all the cotton pads together in this Lotion. Cover in the jar. You can now wipe your face and eyes to sooth the itchiness causes by the allergy and get rid of possible allergens. You can relieve your conjunctivitis by applying gently the cotton on the eyelids. Can be stored about 2 months.

Positive or negative, we live with our emotions and feelings every single day. This is part of the body’s reaction and it is essential. It shows that we are simply alive. Ignoring your emotions or suppressing them is acting like a robot, lifeless. Being attentive to your emotion is getting to know yourself better, and allows you to react positively. However, when emotions are becoming toxic, they can hold you back and shut the body down. When this toxic feeling is overproduced, not only the mind but the body itself will be impacted, with low energy and possible diseases. This is an uncontrolled vicious circle. To get positive emotions back, mind and body need to be well nourished. Among the different factors that have to be well balanced in the body for a better mental health, there are the neurotransmitters. For instance, serotonin is calming and helps regain a good sleep. Our good mood is extremely linked with serotonin. Feeling better with no toxic emotions, depends on supplements, a nutrition targeting a liver detox, and avoiding medicines, if possible. In a more holistic approach, some essential oils are highly qualified as antidepressants, emotionally healing, cleansing and boosting the immune system. Combined with massage, traditional Chinese medicine, or other techniques, they are precious and valuable. Comforting Blend with toxic emotions: This blend is helpful against fear emotions. It regulates and calms nervous down. – Rose Otto (rosa damascena): 2 drops (Rose is a precious oil, antidepressant, detoxifying, for emotional exhaustion). – Ylang-Ylang (Cananga odorata): 1 drop (Ylang-Ylang is antidepressant and hypotensive. Baby Massage ClassesA baby, this human being… A baby, this little human being seems so fragile. He simply needs us to help him grow up. We, parents are doing our best to protect him, giving all our unconditional love and affection. Infant massage is one of the things we can do for his well-being. It seems to be nothing, but a massage is much more than just well-being. It brings affection, it relieves from lots of pains and problems such as colic, cough, toothaches… With simple strokes, we can help him feel better, calm down, and breathe easily. Baby massage is a nonverbal emotional communication that parents develop gradually with the baby. The Touch sense is one of the human senses that appear first in the mother’s womb and will leave us the last. The massage is a way to give the Touch all its importance here, by bringing up the full meaning of secure attachment bond. It is also a time to show our respect to the baby, and our welcoming to hear his silent language and feelings. In our baby massage class, we teach simples but efficient strokes, and we talk about important subjects that help us understand better those little ones (such as baby cries, emotion, colic pains, reflexes and cues…) Dr. Frederick Leboyer, M.D, was the first physician to challenge a lot of deeply held beliefs in West society about awareness in the newborn. He was one of the first doctors to record the ancient art of baby massage. He states, “Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant. Food as necessary as minerals, vitamins, and proteins. Deprived of this food, the name of which is love, babies would rather die. And they often do.” Feel free to have a look here (https://aromabio.weebly.com/infant-baby-massage-iaim.html) for more information. Autumn is here. Kids are back to school, adults are back to work. The days are getting shorter and our bodies need to adapt with the new rhythm. This doesn’t mean that this season is not funny. On the contrary, this is often the good timing to try new things, new sports, new activities and enjoy good moments with friends. This is also a very interesting time to learn and challenge our brain. On the mean time, we need to get cautious with our immunity, stay warm and take vitamins to face the changing weather. Essential oils are precious to help us stay alert, focus or uplifting our mood. May chang and citrus smell essential oil are interesting to help us stay positive and uplifting our mind. It is time for our beloved teenagers to sit their exams. It is never a comfortable period for both parents and teenagers. However, dealing with stress requires a common sense attitude. There is no need to read books or follow complicated rules about avoiding panic. It is all about identifying the source of apprehension. There are always good tools for every fear. On top of that, learning how to relax goes with learning how to breathe properly. Before an oral exam, it will help to release tension and help you to express yourself clearly. Before a written exam, it brings oxygen to the brain and helps to open your mind. When the exam starts, instead of immersing yourself immediately in the exam, it is better to take 2 minutes to perform deep abdominal breathing, associated with a quick self-auto massage. This will definitely enhance your potential for the exam. Aromatherapy is a very good tool during the exams. During the exams, breathing in some aromatherapy oils from a stick inhaler will help focus and concentration. For instance, rosemary ct cineole has a tonic action on an intellectual level and the lemon helps you stay focused and awake. On the other hand, by using a stick inhaler, it forces you to breathe deeply. The oxygen works in the body on all levels: oxygenated cells are the key to success during exams. For those who are subject to panic attacks, it is always better to have an aromatherapy consultation in advance for full support. Don’t hesitate to contact me. Stress is never bad if you make it your friend. It is a necessity for boosting your energy and working on full capacity. You are the best (Focus/concentrate stick inhaler): Add 15 drops in the inhaler as follow:
The definition of anti-ageing is to delay, stop or retard the ageing process. Our bodies are made of cells, and ageing occurs when there is cell death.
An essential oils contains more than 100 components and has many properties. Concerning anti-ageing, we need to focus on essential oils that are healing, astringent, regenerating and antiwrinkle. Dealing with antiaging means using a very good base oil or cream. One of the most effective anti-aging base oil is Rose hip oil. This oil is regenerating the tissues, it is reducing scars and skin discoloration and it is a very good anti-wrinkle oil (not to use on acne or oily skin). Of course a very healthy lifestyle is beneficial for antiaging. With holistic aromatherapy, the choice of essential oil is not only to fight against one issue (ageing in this topic) but to work on a whole healing body process. For example you can have help with depression, boost your immune system or use an essential oil which will give you energy. Using a synergy of 3 oils is always very beneficial. Along many essential oils, these 2 oils are very powerful with antiaging: -Rose Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens var roseae): it has anti-inflammatory, astringent tonic effect. It is a cellular regenerative wound healing oil. Excess of free radicals stresses the cell membranes of the skin and as a result, the collagen can start to being damaged. That would lead to wrinkles. This essential oil is a powerful antioxidant and can protect the cells from free radicals. -Cistus (Cistus ladaniferus): It is cicatrizing oil. It helps mature skins and it is regenerating for slow healing infected areas. It also has the potential to arrest bleeding. Wrinkles happen when the hormones activities slow down. Less oestrogen secretion causes less collagen and elastin production. This essential oil promotes the collagen production. As an oestrogen-like, it mimics the activity of this hormone. It then reduces the wrinkles formation. This oil needs to be used with other oils to reduce her strong smell. We can also mention Carrot seed essential oil for reducing age spots. Create your own aromatherapy anti-ageing cream: * 15 ml Rose-hip (or neutral cream) * Rose Geranium essential oil, 7 drops * Cistus essential oil, 1 drop * Rose essential oil, 1 drop * Vitamin E oil (Wheat germ oil for example), 1 drop * Apply few drops with your palms on washed face morning and evening. Marie Lardy, Aromatherapist. Don’t hesitate to contact Marie for further enquiries ([email protected]) Eczema or dermatitis is one of the most common skin diseases affecting many of adults or children. It appears most typically on arms, legs, knees and elbows, cheeks and forehead. The symptoms are redness, swelling. It is often itchy, flaking and sometimes bleeding. Eczema can dry or wet. It is believed that it is due to an overreaction of our body to certain allergens. Each treatment depends of the patient. Following a routine (not too much bath, checking allergy, hydrating the skin etc…) will help relieving the symptoms. With aromatherapy, we can alleviate the itchiness and help the skin to heal. On top of essential oils, hydrosols in spray (Lavender hydrosol, German chamomile hydrosol or Immortelle hydrosol) are very interesting, especially for babies as it is completely safe. Moreover, the choice of the carrier oil is extremely important. This is what can really help the skin to heal properly and prevent from dryness and infectious. Always check any possible allergy of the ingredients. Coconut Oil hydrates, nourishes, softens the skin. Is also has anti-inflammatory properties. Shea Butter is rich in vitamin A and works as an excellent moisturizer that nourishes and heals the skin. We need to boost our immune system to protect ourselves against virus and bacteria. Essential oils are a very good way to prevent from bad cold by boosting our immune system, defending agains virus and even kill some. Those containing 1.8 cineole molecule are the most efficient for opening the lungs, unblocking and decongesting, stimulating the upper respiratory system. Those containing monoterpernes are the most efficient against virus. 2 oils are very helpful during winter: Ravintsara (cinnamomum camphora) contains lots of 1.8 cineole. This is an anti-infectious, antiviral, expectorant, anti-tussive essential oil and a powerful immune stimulant. It can be use in diffuser, or topically on the chest with carrier base oil (5 drops for 5 ml). Rubbing under the feet would also be a good option. Bergamot (citrus bergamia) is a top oil for the immune system. Antiseptic, antibacterial, antidepressant, boosting white blood cells, it is an uplifting essential oil. As it is phototoxic (containing bergaptene), it should not exceed 2 drops for 20 ml base oil topically if going to the sun. Can be use in diffuser, or massage locally. N’hésitez pas à me demander conseil. Et pour les mamans, cadeau bonus pour leur permettre de terminer en beauté cette fin d’année scolaire : j’offre 50% de remise sur tous mes services proposés pendant le mois de juin. |
